Teaching – Nairobi
The 2014 OCMC Kenya Orthodox Mission Team will minister in Nairobi, the hub of the Orthodox Church of Kenya, to the students of the Makarios III Seminary, the Orthodox Teachers College of Africa and the St. Clement of Alexandria School by leading classes, tutoring students and teaching the English language. Incorporate Biblical and catechetical truths in lessons and offer conversational experiences with students who desire to learn English from native English speakers.
St. Clement of Alexandria Orthodox School, located in Riruta Satellite, serves as the Demonstration School for the Orthodox Teachers College and is located on the college premises. With over 250 students, it is a fully sponsored school offering a daily hot meal and uniforms.
The Orthodox Teachers' College of Africa offers two certificates: A Diploma in Education in Early and Middle Childhood (a two year program) and a Certificate in Education in Early and Middle Childhood (a three semester program). The school is registered with the Kenya Ministry of Education, Science & Technology (MOEST) and opened its doors in January of 2003. The students attend classes in Orthodox Christian Education and church services at the Church of St. Mark the Evangelist.
The Orthodox Patriarchal Ecclesiastical School of Makarios III Archbishop of Cyprus is located in the western suburbs of Nairobi and is the principal theological institution for Sub-Saharan Africa. Originally opened in 1985 to serve the needs of East Africa, the school follows courses of study used by other Orthodox theological schools and seminaries.
Participants with a sound understanding of the Orthodox Faith and the ability to teach have been requested.
Continue to build a relationship with the Orthodox of Kenya.
