Margarita Mavroeidi

Project Mexico

Margarita was born in Sweden but spent most of her childhood in Greece. When she was 12 years old, due to the Greek economic crisis, her family was forced to move abroad, first to Texas and then to North Carolina. Living in the United States made her love for languages and cultures grow.

During her time in college, Margarita volunteered as treasurer of VOLAR, a community-based organization that allows students to interact with and address the needs of the local Hispanic community while gaining authentic linguistic practice. She also worked as a Mental Health Ambassador during her last year.

Margarita graduated from North Carolina State University with a BA in Psychology, minors in Spanish and Biology, and a Global Perspectives Certificate. She continued her education by becoming nationally certified as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and is currently working on her Masters in Biopsychology through Liberty University.

Ministries & Projects

Margarita has been supporting the work of Project Mexico since the summer of 2022, when she participated in her first mission trip as an intern in their summer homebuilding program. Inspired by this experience, she then decided to move down and work at St. Innocent Orphanage, where she has been serving full-time as a counselor and tutor since January of 2023. At the start of the 2022-2023 school year, Margarita began serving as the Educational Coordinator for the orphanage and continues to do so alongside Gabriela Detorakis.

Please consider supporting Margarita’s work through your prayers and/or financial support. She also hopes that you will consider serving and supporting the underprivileged in your own communities.
