OCMC News - Help Train and Send More Orthodox Missionaries this Lent!

OCMC News - Help Train and Send More Orthodox Missionaries this Lent!
We need your help this Lent so we can train and send more Orthodox missionaries into the world. Orthodox missionaries dedicate years of their lives serving others as a witness to the Faith and they are needed now more than ever.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Presbytera Renee and I know firsthand the sacrifice and commitment required to answer the call to missionary service.

We walked this path in the 1980’s and 90’s in Kenya and Albania. Our son, Dn. Stephanos, and his family have followed in our footsteps. Alongside all of us, giving us much-needed strength and comfort, have been your prayers and support.

Just this year, two more young families have embarked on their journeys into the mission field as well. Thomas and Elizabeth Manuel arrived in Guatemala in January; and Fr. Chris and Mat. Jen Moore, together with their young children, began their term of service in South Korea this February. All four of these faithful servants have pursued a theological education in the hopes of being able to offer all that they have learned to a world that desperately needs Christ. Your support of the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) has made this offering possible. More young families wait in the wings to join them!

There are presently 18 open missionary positions around the world, and we are trying to deploy four more missionaries by the end of 2019. To do this, we need your support!

OCMC missionaries undergo months of preparation and intensive training, and the demand for Orthodox missionaries is growing. The clock is ticking on reaching our 2019 goal!

As someone who has supported OCMC in the past, you know how vital missionaries are to sharing the Gospel and growing the Orthodox Faith around the world. OCMC missionaries have participated in the baptisms of thousands, established youth ministries, developed translation software, trained scores of Orthodox clergy, and even implemented substance abuse programs. Their efforts have not only transformed lives but SAVED them!

In the remembrance of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice for us, we ask that you take up our Orthodox missionary support challenge this Lent. Please prayerfull consider a gift of $75, $100, $150, or more to ensure that the good news of Christ’s Resurrection can be brought to all.

We prayerfully ask that you make your gift by Pascha so that we can send out more missionaries by year’s end. They will share the triumph and hope of Christ’s resurrection in places like Guatemala, South Korea, and five other countries that are pleading for missionary support.

Through your prayers and gifts, you can connect the Church abroad with the Orthodox Faithful from the United States who can serve as missionaries to minister to their specific needs. These needs include clergy, youth workers, university faculty, logistics coordinators, technology professionals, and healthcare workers, to name a few.

Thank you for your donation in support of Orthodox missionaries. Your offering, no matter the size, will help share the Gospel for years to come as many missionaries end up dedicating their entire lives to service in the field.

May you have a blessed Lenten journey, and may the Holy Spirit continue to guide and inspire us as we share the joy of Pascha around the world.

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Martin Ritsi
Executive Director

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
