OCMC News - OCMC Builds with Project Mexico!
The entire group that participated in this year's Building a Home for Missions!

Over the past couple of weeks, OCMC again partnered with Project Mexico on the second Building a Home for Missions project! We’re always finding we have much to offer one another, and so it’s a blessing to be able to work together on a project like this.

Building a Home for Missions was a very special week of work, witness, and fellowship this year. Volunteers learned the importance of sharing the Orthodox faith and the responsibility of building up the Church in a cross-cultural setting. OCMC partnered with Project Mexico not only to build homes, but also to introduce youth and young adults to the Orthodox vocation of international missions.

Over the course of the week, volunteers started and ended each day with prayer and presentations about Orthodox missionary work. During each day, they worked together to construct a safe, secure, and permanent home for a needy family in Mexico. As a result, they not only learned about the big picture of Orthodox missions, but they learned while engaging in missionary work firsthand. This always makes for a very powerful experience!

We’ve been working together with Project Mexico more and more over the past several years, and indeed our collaboration is already paying off. They’re able to facilitate these wonderful home-build teams, and we’re able to help train some of their staff and summer interns. The result: the Orthodox Church is able to reach out and make a bigger impact in the world!

It’s a great blessing to work so closely with Project Mexico, but we also need your help! Please consider signing up to participate in a Project Mexico home build, or an OCMC mission team. Please also share these opportunities with your families, friends, and parish communities. “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few,” and your participation can make a big difference!

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
