We’re celebrating our 40th year with great joy!
Like any organization, the Mission Center has flexed with the needs of our clergy around the world, and we’re proud of the missionaries and volunteers who helped spread the Gospel of Christ through their work. I often explain our mission to new staff in this way: An underdeveloped country may have two doctors serving side-by-side, one is under the umbrella of a humanitarian organization and might be an atheist; the other is a missionary working under the umbrella of the Mission Center. They offer the same medical expertise and care to patients. However, one of them is doing it as part of something bigger: Orthodoxy. Through their good works, they reveal Christ and His Gospel. As a result, the missionary cares for the whole person, and in turn, builds the Church.
Not all of us can travel across the world in support of Orthodox missions, but even in each of our small corners we are called by God. Sharing our Orthodox faith is not a choice, but a responsibility. And He beckons us to respond every Divine Liturgy:
- For the stability of the holy churches of God…
- For pious and Orthodox Christians (everywhere!)…
- For this city and parish, for every city and land, and for the faithful who live in them…
Thank you for sharing these last 38 years with me, Presbytera Renee, and our family. Let’s never waiver in Christ’s call to “Go and make disciples of all nations.” – Matthew 28:19
