Fufilling Christ's Final Commandment
Before His ascension into Heaven, Christ gave one final commandment: to “go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19). This is what we celebrate today on the feast of the Ascension, as we are reminded to reorient ourselves and strive to share the Good News of Christ with the world.
As we celebrate the feast, it’s the perfect occasion to raise up two of the people who have made it possible for us to share the Gospel with the world throughout the past decades: Cliff and Theodora Argue.
Cliff has served in Missions oversight with both the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and with OCMC for 45 years, including 2 terms as Board President, and his wife, Theo, has been integral to his service every step of the way. Together, they’ve traveled the world on mission trips, welcomed and hosted missionaries, and given their lives to the Church and to sharing the Gospel with the world.
We are excited to celebrate Cliff and Theo and all they’ve done for OCMC, and the Orthodox Church as a whole, at a Celebration Gala this Saturday. They have lived and served as beacons of Christ’s missionary commandment, and inspire us all to likewise do the same in our own lives, bringing those around us closer to Christ as well.
