The Opportunity

The Orthodox Christian Mission Center is dedicated to galvanizing Orthodox Christians in the United States to embrace the Great Commission and advance Orthodox mission work around the world. The organization deploys both human and financial resources to establish Christ’s Church in collaboration with local Churches, through a uniquely Orthodox approach to missionary work, at a time of great need for people to hear the Gospel and participate in the authentic expression of Christian faith in its purest form. The Mission Center works under the auspices of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America and ultimately exists to bring people into the fullness of life in Christ.

The Executive Director acts as the spiritual, operational, and relational leader of the Orthodox Christian Mission Center and oversees the supervision of field mission personnel in collaboration with local Orthodox Church hierarchs. Under guidance provided by the Board of Directors, this position oversees all aspects of the Mission Center’s purpose and vision for the future, ensuring they are faithfully executed across all departments, programs, and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the development and implementation of the strategic plan and supporting departmental plans in collaboration with the board and staff.
  • Lead and mentor all department directors and managers (Missionary, Grants, Development, Translations, Finance), fostering a collaborative environment that aligns with our spiritual mission.
  • Engage in field visitations to open new pathways to field missions, cultivate new and evaluate existing initiatives, explore partnerships, and support our dedicated missionaries in their vital work.
  • Establish all policies and procedures and oversee the financial, administrative, and communication strategies of the Mission Center, ensuring forward momentum towards our goals.
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the Mission Center representing our mission on national and international platforms and cultivating relationships with major donors and ecclesiastical leaders.

Who Should Apply

  • Devout Orthodox Christians (both clergy and lay people) who belong to one of the Assembly jurisdictions and have preferably been educated in missiology and Orthodox theology.
  • Experienced leaders with background and competency in management, finance, fundraising, and non-profit leadership.
  • Faithful individuals who are called to serve and to lead others to be a living witness to the presence of the Lord in our world.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in overseas Orthodox missionary work is strongly preferred.
  • A degree in Orthodox Christian theology through an Orthodox seminary and in missiology is preferred.
  • A willingness to engage in further education in areas of missiology and non-profit leadership if needed.
