Pray for OCMC's First Missionaries to Indonesia
Fr. Martin Ritsi, Executive Director of OCMC, recently traveled to Medan, Indonesia to introduce Dn. Philip McClanahan who, with the blessing of His Eminence KONSTANTINOS, Metropolitan of Singapore and South Asia, will serve with his family as OCMC’s first missionaries to Indonesia. In Medan, Dn. Philip met the vicar for Indonesia, Fr. Chrysostomos Manalu, as well as teachers and others with whom he will be working at St. Paul Theological Academy of Medan.
In addition to meeting his future colleagues, Dn. Philip was able to make necessary arrangements for housing and other necessities for Shamassy Kristiana and their three children to join him in the coming weeks.
St. Paul Theological Academy is located on the grounds of St. Demetrios Orthodox Church in Medan and currently has almost 300 students. Dn. Philip will join 5 other Orthodox teachers at the school including Fr. Chrysostomos’s wife, Presbytera Elizabeth Manalu.
Before arriving in Medan, Fr. Martin spent time elsewhere in the South Pacific with another new missionary family - the Jones family, who recently arrived in Fiji. The Jones and McClanahan families are part of what is hoped to be a growing presence in Asia and Oceania that will endeavor to “make disciples of all nations.”
