OCMC News - Join Our First Mission Team to Colombia This July!
Please prayerfully consider joining this year's OCMC Mission Team to Colombia. Share the Faith and enjoy fellowship with our growing Orthodox family in this beautiful South American country.

Christ calls each of us to “go and make disciples of all nations”. With this summer’s very first OCMC mission team to Colombia, this is a great opportunity to help carry out Christ’s Great Commission!

The Orthodox communities of Colombia have been thirsting for a deeper understanding of our Orthodox faith, and we are excited to finally be able to send a team there! We have been invited by the local priest, Fr. Rafael Padillo, to visit three different communities in the cities of Cerete, Cartagena de Indias, and Manaura from July 1 to July 13, 2019. There, mission team members will offer catechism to children, young people, and adults in order to help Fr. Rafael advance the mission. The people in this region are very excited about the Faith.

Colombia is a country at the northern tip of South America. Its landscape is marked by rainforests, beaches, mountains, and cotton and coffee plantations. His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Mexico established the mission outreach in Colombia in 2006, and it has already grown to 15,000 Orthodox Christians in cities and towns around the country. These Orthodox Christians have faced many challenges and oppression from other religious groups, and yet, by the grace of God, the Church continues to grow. The newly-established communities of Cerete, Cartagena de Indias, and Manaura have roughly 250 faithful, and your involvement on this team will go a long way for them.

As we approach the close of this Lenten period and draw nearer to the celebration of Pascha, we hope you will support the ministry in Colombia with your prayers, participation in the team, or financial support. Please consider signing up to offer your talents to our Orthodox brothers and sisters in Colombia!

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
