OCMC News - Help Send More Orthodox Christian Mission Teams with a Gift this Thanksgiving!

by Orthodox Christian Mission Center (Posted 9/25/2018)

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

You did it! This year you helped send the 300th Orthodox Mission Team!

This Thanksgiving we want to extend to you our deepest gratitude for your support and prayers over the years. Without you, and without the strength and guidance of the Holy Spirit, this milestone could never have been reached. Now, we need your help so the 400th, 500th, and 1000th teams can be sent in the coming years!

Just imagine how many lives have been, and will continue to be, transformed by the mission teams you help send. For an example, you need look no further than the 300th team itself. It was comprised of 9 volunteers from Orthodox parishes around the country and even abroad. They served in Jamaica where the Church is just beginning to take root. The community there doesn’t even have its own priest. But the team, led by Fr. Anthony Salzman of Watkinsville, GA, alongside Jamaica’s newly-illumined, celebrated a full Liturgy, partook of the Body and Blood of Christ, and even welcomed someone into the Orthodox Church through Holy Baptism! These are just some of the things that the OCMC teams you support bring to the world!

In addition to sacramental worship, the team taught about the Faith by holding Bible studies, reaching out to youth, and through demonstrations on Orthodox iconography. Many of the people that the team reached weren’t even Orthodox! When you support the Mission Center, we are able to grow ministries like teams that provide this evangelistic witness to people who are longing for the one true Faith!

In 2019, OCMC is planning on sending at least 19 teams to 11 countries. This Thanksgiving, help us to send these teams and more
with a gift of $75, $100, or more.

The first team of 2019 is leaving for Albania in March. While there they will sharing the Fiath with youth and young adults. Your gift is needed urgently to ensure that this team, and the other teams slated for 2019, can go! Please make your Thanksgiving gift in support of missions today!

Those that hosted the 300th team to Jamaica shared, “We enjoyed every moment and we are better off having broken bread with them. We can’t thank you enough for sending everyone to Jamaica.”

Teams make a difference! Please remember this as you prayerfully consider your offering of Thanksgiving in support of missions this year!

Thank you in advance for your contribution, and for your ongoing prayers. Please know that they go with the team members into the mission field. Through these prayers, and by God’s limitless grace, people are being loved all over the world.

In Christ,

Fr. Martin Ritsi
Executive Director

PS – If you really want to have an impact, include OCMC in your estate planning and consider making your response to this appeal a recurring gift. These are two great ways to ensure the growth of Orthodox missions for years to come!

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
